Do your homework before starting a project

Our company is one with a strong reputation for designing buildings capable of meeting the client’s every desire. As experts in commercial architecture, we know how much planning is necessary, what materials we will need, and what methods to use. Moreover, we know it is important to collaborate with various people to achieve the right outcome.

One thing you must do before starting any project is your homework. The more information you have, the better your chances of avoiding mistakes. Speaking of which, the following are ones you cannot afford to make.

Exploring concerns

It is understandable if you think you would feel like a nag if you talk about all of your concerns here. However, the best contractors always take you seriously. You may end up finding a pricey mistake if you stay quiet.

Let’s look at an example. Say you are renovating the staff kitchen in your office. When you receive the new countertops, they might not be the colour that you had in mind. It will be far cheaper and quicker for you to swap them as soon as they arrive on site. There will be extra labour costs and you may need to pay an extra fee if you want to change after installing them.

It is a good idea to inspect the work periodically and bring up any concerns as soon as possible. Drop in daily if you are not currently using the office space.

Expect the unexpected

Not expecting the unexpected is another mistake you want to avoid. Lots of different things can happen during a project, especially with large commercial architecture. While you can plan for many of them, there are others that you would never dream of. Sadly some of them are very unpleasant and costly.

When working on older structures, remember that building codes would have been far different back then. Therefore, it will be difficult to know what you are actually up against. Try your best to get the plans and do your homework to find out as much as you can about the structure. This will reduce the chance of issues.
