Three simple ways to enhance your commercial architecture

Commercial architectureWhether it is an office block, a shopping centre, or a small boutique, commercial architecture can be a huge asset. However, you need to work hard to maintain these properties. If you don’t, wear and tear over time can ruin them. This could turn off tenants and make them look elsewhere for space. It could also put off their customers, costing them business, and again making them look to move. If it is the building for your own business, it could be costing you dearly.

While you need to work hard to keep up with the routine maintenance, you can also periodically do things to enhance the property. This can keep everyone happy and retain or even increase the value of your asset. Not all of these enhancements have to cost a huge amount or involve serious upheaval either. Below we want to look at three simple things you can do.

Decorating

Not much will harm a building more than tired, old decor. This could be the facade or the interior. Every few years you may want to look at it to see if it needs a refresh. You want it to make the right impression on everyone, from the tenants or employees who work in the building to customers and members of the public who see it.

If it is the building for your business you may even want to think about whether the decor matches your branding. It may not and could therefore use an update to align it with your colours. You may even want to look at upgrading signage to suit your branding.

Windows

Now, changing the windows on a piece of commercial architecture every few years is definitely not necessary. In fact that would be incredibly costly, inconvenient, and wasteful. That does not mean you can’t make easy changes to enhance them. One thing you can do is use window film to tint them. This can offer a number of benefits, including:

  • Energy savings
  • Reducing glare
  • Enhancing the visual appeal

Lighting

If your property still has traditional lighting it may be a good idea to do a refit to introduce modern lights. These could be low energy LEDs that can last a long time and dramatically reduce energy costs. LED lighting is also cleaner and better for the eyes.

While this kind of project can be a little more disruptive and a larger monetary investment, it can offer wonderful returns. Plus it can improve safety by giving you the chance to update lights and wiring that could be decades old.
