Utilising branding to great effect in commercial architecture

In the commercial sector branding is incredibly powerful and can provide a wide array of benefits to businesses. As a result almost every aspect of their existence needs to reflect their brand, from the advertising they do to the office culture. Even the physical premises themselves have a big role to play. Surprisingly the latter can be overlooked, particularly in terms of interiors.

Commercial architecture, both externally and internally, is often underestimated when it comes to branding. What many people don’t realise is that the layout of the building, the materials that are used, the colours, and the general atmosphere is all part of the signature of the business. It should therefore reflect the brand.

One important thing about the digital age is that people can easily find out more about companies they are looking to work with online. Not surprisingly consumers are more likely to deal with businesses that present themselves properly and have a story behind their brand.

Giving people an insight into the office environment is becoming more common because it makes businesses more personable. It is not surprising to see companies offering images of their offices or even virtual tours so they can have a look around without having to visit in person. For both of these to make the right impression the commercial architecture should be perfect.

The interior of each commercial property should reflect the values of the company. For example if they are committed to protecting the environment evidence of recycled materials and recycling should be visible in the office. A minimalist approach can be showcased with open plan spaces and carefully selected furnishings and accessories. Every single item placed in the office should adhere to the brand.

At Coffey Architects we can capture the brand image whenever we create commercial architecture. We have a lot of experience with doing this, having been invited to work on an array of different properties over the years. In each case we use knowledge of the brand and what consumers expect to see to ensure that spaces fit with the image.
