The time for the London Festival of Architecture 2017 is fast approaching. It will be held from the 1st to the 30th June, providing a full month of events. Whether you want a chance to take a walking tour of commercial architecture, plan to visit the wonderful exhibitions, or want to attend a talk or conference, there is plenty to choose from. Many studios will be opened so you can get an inside look into their work too.
This year the LFA features a number of fantastic events designed specifically for families. Everybody can get come together to celebrate all forms of architecture, get involved with some model making, and enhance their passion for design. We are sure everybody will have fun while they are learning.
The calendar of events for 2017 is the largest yet, offering over 450 different ones over the course of June. The theme this year is memory. You can find out about the whole calendar on the LFA website. Some of the events have very limited capacities so make sure you book early to avoid disappointment.
There are plenty of events but a few of the ones not to be missed include;
– The program of talks to explore works by female architects that were not built.
– The exploration of New Covent Garden Market and how it has evolved over the years.
– A workshop that explores buildings of the past and present, charting how architecture in London has evolved over the years.
– The return of two popular LFA fixtures – the Lego Challenge and Great Architectural Bake Off.
In 2016 the London Festival of Architecture attracted almost 30,000 people. The 2017 programme is even larger and it is hoped that the attendance target will be smashed, setting a new bar for 2018 and subsequent years.
Whether you are interested in commercial architecture, history, or plans for the future we are confident there will be something on the programme for you.
