A proud presentation of our products at Pechakucha

Pechakucha is a style of presentation that originated in Tokyo and enables designers to network and display their work. The format makes for presentations that move at a swift pace, which means designers need to express their ideas as concisely as possible. The system was devised by Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham of Klein-Dytham Architecture in 2003 in an effort to attract people to their experimental space Superdeluxe.

By 2004 Pechakucha’s popularity had grown and it soon spread to Europe. Today, Pechakucha presentation nights are held in over 800 countries around the world. The format involves a presentation of 20 slides that are shown for exactly 20 seconds each, with the whole thing lasting a total of 6 minutes and 40 seconds. It takes its name from the term “chit-chat”, as it aims to promote a friendly, informal and fun social environment where ideas can be shared freely.

The Surface Design Show is the ideal platform for UK and Europe based companies to showcase their work. It features the latest products and materials available from over 130 exhibitors. It is the central marketing platform for many companies and is the ideal location to find new and innovative surface solutions.

London’s Business Design Centre once again recently opened its doors to the Surface Design Show. The Pechakucha evening was held on Wednesday February 10th 2016 and we were delighted to be invited to present. The event was hosted by Annalie Riches, the co-founder of Mikhail Riches. The recipient of five housing design and five RIBA awards Annalie has also made the Stirling mid list twice and been shortlisted for the Steven Lawrence prize on three occasions.

Along with our work, the Pechakucha evening also featured presentations by many fellow award-winning architectural outfits and the show was a major celebration of innovation. The Surface Design Show lasts for three days and returns to the same location annually. It is the must-see show for all architects, designers and buyers who are in search of cutting-edge materials for both residential and commercial architecture projects. We took great pride in the part we played in the event, and we look forward to being involved again in the future.
