The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) is inviting members to submit work for the upcoming annual summer show in south London, aimed at displaying some of the finest private and commercial architecture and design talent in the UK. The show, named Architecture Open 2015, will showcase everything from paintings and drawings to models and sketches that have been fundamental aspects of well-known projects.
This show has been arranged in response to this year’s theme of the London Festival of Architecture – ‘Work in Progress’. POP Brixton, a business hub and community created from shipping containers, will host the exhibition and provide pop-up bars, event space and food facilities. All submitted works to the exhibition must be able to fit into shoebox-sized containers.
It is said that the show will attract a lot of attention from the design-conscious public and industry professionals. Due to this, exhibitors will be able to show their work to a whole new audience who they may not otherwise have been able to reach, meaning that architectural firms should not pass up the opportunity to enter a submission.
Combined with a varied programme of events that will also take place over the month of June, the summer’s plans for architecture in London are looking promising. Details on how to enter RIBA’s summer shows can be found through their website, so if you would like to submit pieces of your work feel free to pay them a visit.
