The 10×10 online auction to raise money for Article 25, the UK’s leading architecture and construction charity, is underway and aims to raise funds to support a fantastic cause. Since 2006 they have worked on over 60 projects around the world, helping people in vulnerable communities struggling with poverty, natural disasters and other needs. The charity has been involved in the design and construction of sustainable buildings of all shapes and sizes, whether it is schools or health clinics. Each building they help to construct is designed to provide lasting benefits for the wider community it will be serving.
The 10×10 auction features 100 unique pieces of artwork inspired by London’s newest commercial architecture landmark The Shard, as well as the surrounding area. Each piece has been created by local designers, artists and prominent architects, and ranges from photographs to sketches and paintings. All of the pieces take inspiration from London, its inspirational commercial architecture and the vibrant creative atmosphere in the city, creating a unique collection of works that is truly astonishing.
We were proud to be asked to contribute to the auction. The photograph we submitted depicts The Shard as it towers above the Victorian terraced houses that make up the Islington skyline. This is a view that Phil Coffey sees every single morning and one that has left a lasting impression on him and other residents.
The online part of the 10×10 auction runs until the 24th of November. The highest bid at the end will then be used as the starting point of the main auction which is set to take place on November 27th on the 24th floor of The Shard. The setting is poignant because it gives guests a fantastic view of many of the areas that have been the inspiration for the artworks.
Article 25 is an amazing charity that is staffed by talented designed and volunteers. The auction is a great opportunity to contribute to their work and also obtain a beautiful, original piece of art. You can view all of the pieces by visiting www.10x10london.com and clicking on the catalogues tab.
